Trump calls state election recount a scam

Posted:

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Donald Trump called a recount of votes being prepared in Wisconsin a scam, insisting Saturday that his presidential win should be respected, not challenged and abused. The recount, which was requested by Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who received a minute fraction of the total vote, flew in the face of an election that has already been conceded, Trump said.Hillary Clintons campaign said it would join the recount although it has not seen any irregularities so far in the White House contest won by Trump.Marc Erik Elias, an election lawyer for the Democratic candidate, said in a post on Medium.com that the campaign would also participate in recounts in the closely contested states of Michigan and Pennsylvania if they are arranged.Stein has also announced plans to seek recounts in those two states. In a statement, Trump asserted that the people have spoken and the election is over, and as Hillary Clinton herself said on election night, in addition to her conceding by congratulating me, We must accept this result and then look to the future.Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, won Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin by a total of just over 100,000 votes. The razor-thin victories in those states pushed him above the 270 votes needed for victory in the Electoral College. It is important to point out that with the help of millions of voters across the country, we won 306 electoral votes on Election Day -- the most of any Republican since 1988, Trump said. This is a scam by the Green Party for an election that has already been conceded, and the results of this election should be respected instead of being challenged and abused, which is exactly what Jill Stein is doing, Trump added. However, during the campaign Trump himself threatened to reject the result if he lost, alleging that the race was rigged by the media and the establishment elite.Elias, the Clinton counsel, said that because we had not uncovered any actionable evidence of hacking or outside attempts to alter the voting technology, we had not planned to exercise this option ourselves. But now that a recount has been initiated in Wisconsin, we intend to participate in order to ensure the process proceeds in a manner that is fair to all sides, he added. It was not immediately clear how the Clinton campaign plans to take part in the recount.Although experts say there is virtually no chance of overturning the final result, the recounts could reignite debate over the legitimacy of Trumps election, already fueled by Clintons lead in the popular vote, which now stands at more than two million.Clinton lost by around 20,000 votes in Wisconsin, 70,000 votes in Pennsylvania and 10,000 votes in Michigan.Elias noted that Trumps 10,000-vote lead in Michigan well exceeds the largest margin ever overcome in a recount.Elias said the Clinton campaign had been conducting its own investigation of the election results after receiving hundreds of messages, emails, and calls urging us to do something, anything, to investigate claims that the election results were hacked and altered in a way to disadvantage Secretary Clinton. But he said the Clinton campaign had seen no evidence so far the election results had been manipulated in Trumps favor.Stein has cited unspecified anomalies as grounds to mount a challenge to the November 8 election results in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. After a divisive and painful presidential race, reported hacks into voter and party databases and individual email accounts are causing many Americans to wonder if our election results are reliable, Stein said on her website. On Saturday she told CNN that going into this election, and throughout the election, we saw hacking taking place all over the place, of state voter databases, of the democratic partys vote database, of private e-mail accounts. This was a hack-riddled election.

Grief, and joy, erupt at Fidel Castro's death

Posted:

HAVANA (AFP) - Mourning descended on Havana Saturday and celebrations erupted in Miami at the death of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, whose iron-fisted rule defied the United States for half a century. One of the worlds longest-serving rulers and among modern historys most striking personalities, Castro died Friday night at age 90 after surviving 11 US administrations and hundreds of assassination attempts.Castro crushed opposition at home from the moment he took power in 1959 to the day he handed over to his younger brother Raul in 2006 amid a health crisis. For defenders of the revolution, he was a hero who protected ordinary people from capitalist domination. To opponents, including thousands of Cuban exiles living in the United States, he was a cruel communist tyrant. After surviving the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis, a suffocating US embargo and the Cold War itself, Castro lived to see the restoration of diplomatic ties with Washington last year. But he never stopped railing against the American empire.President Raul Castro announced the news on national television. The commander in chief of the Cuban Revolution died at 22:29 hours (0329 GMT Saturday), he said in a solemn voice. He gave no details on the cause of death. There were starkly different reactions on either side of the Florida Straits. In the streets of Miami, home to the largest Cuban-American community, euphoric crowds waved flags and danced, banging pots and drums. Its sad that one finds joy in the death of a person -- but that person should never have been born, said Pablo Arencibia, 67, a teacher who fled Cuba 20 years ago.Satan is now the one who has to worry, he added, because Fidel is heading there and is going to try to get his job.In Havana, bustling streets emptied and Friday night parties ground to a halt as Castros admirers sank into grief.Losing Fidel is like losing a father -- the guide, the beacon of this revolution, said Michel Rodriguez, a 42-year-old baker.Castro was to be cremated Saturday, the first of nine days of mourning.A series of memorials will begin Monday morning, when Cubans are called to converge on Havanas iconic Revolution Square.Castros ashes will then go on a four-day procession through the country, before being buried in the southeastern city of Santiago on December 4.Castros death drew strong -- and polarized -- reactions across the world. The name of this distinguished statesman is rightly considered the symbol of an era in modern world history, said Russian President Vladimir Putin in a telegram to Raul Castro.Comrade Castro will live forever, said Chinese President Xi Jinping in a message read on television. History and people will remember him.North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un sent his condolences and praised Castro as an outstanding leader who fought to make the people the genuine masters for the first time in the Western hemisphere.Pope Francis sent his condolences for the sad news and said he would pray for Fidel.Venezuela, Cubas main ally in the region, declared three days of national mourning for Castro, as President Nicolas Maduro called to continue his legacy. And Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona hailed Fidel Castro as a second father. In the US, there were sharply different reactions from outgoing President Barack Obama and President-elect Donald Trump.Obama, who embarked on a historic rapprochement with Cuba in 2014, said the US extended a hand of friendship to the Cuban people. But Trump called Castro a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades. The future of the US-Cuban thaw looks uncertain under Trump. He has threatened to reverse course if Cuba does not allow greater human rights.Cuba says it refuses to be dictated to by foreign powers.Fidel Castro came to power in 1959 as a black-bearded, cigar-chomping 32-year-old, in a revolution against dictator Fulgencio Batista. When this war is over, a much longer greater war will begin: the war that I am going to wage against them, he said in 1958, referring to the United States. That will be my true destiny.Living by the slogan socialism or death, he kept the faith to the end.He endured more than 600 assassination attempts, according to aides, and the disastrous US-backed Bay of Pigs invasion attempt in 1961.His outrage over that botched plot contributed to the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, when the Soviet Union agreed to his request to send ballistic missiles to Cuba. The US discovery of the missiles pushed the world to the brink of nuclear war.If I am considered a myth, the United States deserves the credit, Castro said in 1988.Born August 13, 1926 to a prosperous Spanish immigrant landowner and a Cuban mother of humble background, Castro was said to be a quick learner and a keen baseball player. His formed a guerrilla opposition to Batistas US-backed government, leading a failed uprising in 1953.Defending himself at his trial, the trained lawyer said defiantly: History will absolve me.After serving two years in prison then going into exile in Mexico, he set sail for Cuba on December 2, 1956 with a band of rebels on the yacht Granma.Twenty-five months later, they ousted Batista and Castro was named prime minister. He threw Cubas lot in with the Soviet Union, which bankrolled his regime until 1989, when the Eastern Blocs collapse sent Cubas economy plunging.Still, Fidel managed to hang on.He ceded power to Raul, now 85, in July 2006 to undergo intestinal surgery. He faded from public view, but continued publishing diatribes in the state press and wielding influence behind the scenes.Castro married three times and is known to have fathered eight children. He was last seen in public on his 90th birthday on August 13.

Antonio Conte not thinking about winning title yet

Posted:

LONDON (AFP) - Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said it was too early to talk about the Premier League title after his team recaptured the summit by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on Saturday.Chelsea fell behind to Christian Eriksens stunning 11th-minute strike, but equalised through Pedro Rodriguezs exquisite curler and took victory after Victor Moses rammed home Diego Costas cross. It was Chelseas seventh successive league win -- their longest such sequence within the same season since 2006-07 -- and took them back to the top of the table ahead of next weekends trip to Manchester City. Its too early to talk of the title, said Conte, who had seen Liverpool and City overtake his team earlier in the day. This league is very tough. Tottenham showed in this league there are six or seven teams that can win the title. Its important to continue in this way and improve the confidence.Defeat at Stamford Bridge completed a wretched week for Tottenham, who were dumped out of the Champions League in the group phase on Tuesday after losing 2-1 at Monaco. But despite seeing his team lose their unbeaten record, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino felt the outcome of the match did not reflect how well his team had played. If we analyse the game, we were better, said the Argentine. We competed very well and we were a bit unlucky to concede. The second half we conceded a goal very early. We are disappointed, but we need to be pleased for the performance and the way we competed against a very good team.

Bayern Munich reduce RB Leipzig's lead after beating Leverkusen

Posted:

BERLIN (AFP) - Mats Hummels headed in the crucial goal as Bayern Munich beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 on Saturday to end a three-game winless streak and close back to within three points of leaders RB Leipzig.Leipzig had gone six points clear on Friday with a 4-1 win at Freiburg, and Bayern were grateful to Hummels for heading home a Joshua Kimmich corner in the second half as they got the better of Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena to cut the deficit.Thiago Alcantara had given Carlo Ancelottis Bayern a first-half lead only for Hakan Calhanoglu to make it 1-1 at the break before Hummels struck. In the second half, Leverkusens Kevin Kampl and Kevin Volland both went close with late chances to equalise. The result returns second-placed Bayern to winning ways following a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim, a 1-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund and Wednesdays 3-2 Champions League loss at Rostov. The win boosted Bayern, who re-elected Uli Hoeness as club president on Friday despite the 64-year-old having finished a 21-month jail sentence for tax evasion in February. Before kick-off against Leverkusen, Hoeness apologised for having declared on Friday that RB Leipzig had joined Borussia Dortmund as being categorised as an enemy of Bayern. In my euphoria yesterday I used the wrong word, which applies to both Leipzig and Dortmund, Hoeness told Sky.In football, there is no enemy, only in war.In Iraq or Syria there is an enemy, not in football -- there are rivals and opponents.Id officially like to take the word enemy back and I apologise for it.Earlier, Dortmund were brought crashing to earth following a record Champions League win in midweek with a 2-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt, who went third. It was a first defeat in 10 games for Dortmund and followed their 8-4 romp on Tuesday at home to Legia Warsaw -- a record score for a Champions League game.Hungary international Szabolcs Huszti gave the home side the lead only for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to equalise, before Haris Seferovic grabbed the winner for Frankfurt, who are unbeaten in six league games.Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel made eight changes to the team which started against Legia. His side was again guilty of poor defending as Frankfurt scored both their goals from restarts.Technically, tactically, mentally and in our willingness we werent up to it, fumed Tuchel. After a goalless first half, Eintracht took the lead just 16 seconds after the break as Huszti converted a Timothy Chandler cross from close range.Tuchel responded by making three changes with just over half an hour to go, bringing on Marco Reus, Ousmane Dembele and Sebastian Rode. The move initially paid off as Aubameyang headed home Dembeles ball on 77 minutes, but from the restart, Seferovic slotted home Frankfurts winner before Dembele hit the crossbar in added time for Borussia. The result saw Frankfurt replace Dortmund in third and broke Borussias run of four straight wins. After their Champions League draw at home to Manchester City, Borussia Moenchengladbach were held to another 1-1 stalemate at Borussia Park, against Hoffenheim, to leave them winless in seven league games.Gladbach took the lead when Syrian-born Mahmoud Dahoud belted his shot into the far corner on 25 minutes, but Nadiem Amiri equalised on 53 minutes to preserve Hoffenheims unbeaten record this season.Wolfsburg are just two points above the relegation spots after their 1-1 draw with Ingolstadt as Anthony Jungs goal was cancelled out by Wolfsburgs Daniel Caligiuri.Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio saved a first-half penalty attempt by Moritz Hartmann. In a thrilling north German derby, bottom club Hamburg drew 2-2 at home to neighbours Werder Bremen.Austrian international Michael Gregoritsch scored both of Hamburgs goals either side of a Fin Bartels strike before Bremens Serge Gnabry made it 2-2 at the break. In the afternoons other game Cologne, who are fourth, were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Augsburg.

Ronaldo scores two goals as Real Madrid increase their lead

Posted:

MADRID (AFP) - Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice as Real Madrid were thankful to a late missed penalty from Duje Cop to open up a seven-point lead over Barcelona with a 2-1 win over Sporting Gijon on Saturday.Madrid looked set for an easy afternoon as Ronaldo opened the scoring from the penalty spot before he headed home a second inside 20 minutes. However, Carlos Carmona halved Sportings deficit 10 minutes before half-time and the struggling visitors were handed a huge chance for an unexpected point 12 minutes from time when Nacho brought down Victor Rodriguez.Yet, Cop sent his penalty high and wide as Real held on amidst a torrential downpour to extend their unbeaten run to 31 games in all competitions.Sevilla leapfrogged Barca into second with a 2-1 win over relegation-threatened Valencia. However, Barca can cut the gap back to four points on Madrid and retake second place with a first win at Real Sociedad in nine years on Sunday.Barca also host Real Madrid in the first Clasico of the season between Spanish footballs two giants at the Camp Nou next weekend. It is a game for us to forget because things didnt go as we would have liked, said Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. We lacked a little bit of everything, but we are happy to get the three points which is the most important thing.Fresh from netting a hat-trick against Atletico Madrid last weekend, Ronaldo continued his return to scoring form with a quickfire double to move ahead of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez as La Ligas top scorer. The opener arrived on five minutes when Lucas Vazquez was naively chopped down by Sergio Alvarez and Ronaldo emphatically converted the resulting spot-kick.The Portugueses second finish was even more impressive as he buried Nachos cross from the left with a powerful header that left Diego Marino no chance in the Sporting goal.In between times Ronaldo had also headed wastefully wide when unmarked from a corner, while Marino parried another fierce effort as the three-time World Player of the Year chased his 40th hat-trick for Madrid.Instead, it was Sporting who halved the arrears before half-time when a rare misplaced pass from Luka Modric allowed Isma Lopez to cross from the left and Carmonas outstretched leg prodded the ball past Navas. In deteriorating conditions caused by the torrential rain, Madrid struggled to get going after the break.Zidane withdrew captain Sergio Ramos with an eye on the Clasico next Saturday with the Spanish international a yellow card away from missing that game through suspension. However, that decision nearly backfired as Nacho moved into central defence and quickly brought down Sporting substitute Victor Rodriguez inside the area.Cop pardoned Nachos mistake, though, as the Croatian lent back and sent the ball well wide of Navass goal much to the relief of thousands inside the Bernabeu.Sevilla shrugged off the disappointment of a 3-1 home defeat to Juventus in the Champions League in midweek to leave Valencia still just two points above the relegation zone at the Sanchez Pizjuan. After a first-half short on chances, Ezequiel Garay turned Vitolos cross into his own net just after the break to give Sevilla the lead.Substitute Munir El Haddadi levelled for the visitors with a fine finish with the outside of his foot 12 minutes later. However, Nico Parejas strike from outside the area 15 minutes from time kept Sevilla just six points off Madrid at the top of the table.Earlier, Malaga and Espanyol moved into the top half of the table with victories over Deportivo la Coruna and Leganes respectively.

England's Stokes reprimanded for using foul language

Posted:

MOHALI, India, Nov 26, 2016 (AFP) - Englands Ben Stokes was reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday for using foul language on the opening day of the third Test against India in Mohali. The incident took place when Stokes reacted to Indias celebrations following his dismissal and he got into a heated exchange with skipper Virat Kohli that was heard by onfield umpires Marais Erasmus and Chris Gaffaney.Stokes was found to have used language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting.Stokes accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Ranjan Madugalle and there was no need for a formal hearing on the matter. This was Stokes second offence in less than a month after the allrounder was fined 15 per cent of his match fee in Bangladesh for verbally engaging with batsman Sabbir Rahman.Stokes, who now has two demerit points under the new ICC code of conduct, will face suspension from one Test or two limited-overs internationals if he earns up to four points within a two-year period.

Croatia only win away from winning Davis Cup crown

ZAGREB (AFP) - Marin Cilic and Ivan Dodig beat Argentine pair Juan Martin del Potro and Leonardo Mayer 7-6 (7/2), 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 in Saturdays doubles to put Croatia 2-1 up in the Davis Cup final.Former US Open champion Cilic gave Croatia the upper hand in Zagreb by winning Fridays opening singles rubber against Federico Delbonis before Del Potro levelled for Argentina with a four-set win over Ivo Karlovic. Both Cilic and Del Potro were drafted in for Saturdays doubles with the former teaming up with Dodig to claim the first two sets in a tie-break before wrapping up victory after Mayer dropped serve at 3-2 down in the third. The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic as our fans carried us throughout the contest, said Cilic.Dodig added: This is a once in a lifetime experience and I have to thank the fans for creating a fantastic atmosphere. We will be rooting for Marin to finish the job tomorrow.Olympic silver medallist Del Potro, who has bounced back after two injury-ravaged seasons, must beat sixth-ranked Cilic in Sundays reverse singles to keep alive Argentine hopes of a first Davis Cup title.Del Potro is an incredibly good player but I am confident I have enough left in the tank to finish the job, added Cilic. However, should Del Potro extend the tie 37-year-old Karlovic -- the oldest player to feature in a Davis Cup singles match since 43-year-old Australian Norman Brookes in 1920 -- and Delbonis would then face off in the deciding rubber.Croatia defeated Slovakia in 2005 for the countrys only Davis Cup title, while Argentina -- beaten by Spain in both 2008 and 2011 -- have finished runners-up four times

Shaky Proteas hang on against Aussies as late wickets tumble

Posted:

ADELAIDE, Australia (AFP) - South Africa lost skipper Faf du Plessis amid a clatter of late wickets as the match pendulum swung decisively towards Australia in the third day-night Test in Adelaide on Saturday. The Australians, who led by 124 runs on the first innings, reduced the Proteas to 194 for six with the prized wicket of du Plessis for 12 coming late on the third day.At the close, South Africa were holding on and just 70 runs ahead of Australia heading into Sundays fourth day.Opener Stephen Cook was in sight of his second Test century and was unbeaten on 81 off 199 balls with Quinton de Kock yet to score.Australia, bidding to prevent South Africa from carrying off a series clean sweep after huge defeats in the opening two Tests, took major strides on Saturday with Usman Khawaja leading the way with his near eight-hour epic.Mitchell Starc captured the big wicket of du Plessis who, motivated by the events of his controversial pre-Test ball-tampering case, scored a career pinnacle unbeaten 118 in the first innings of the match.Du Plessis attempted to drive Starc only to get an outside edge to newcomer Peter Handscomb, who took a brilliant diving two-handed catch in the gully. It was a major moment in the course of the Test given the ability of du Plessis to play out long match-saving innings, memorably his defiant 376-ball unbeaten knock of 110 to deny Australia victory in Adelaide four years ago.Starc started the ball rolling, removing Dean Elgar with the fourth ball of his opening over for a duck and fellow paceman Josh Hazlewood had Hashim Amla caught behind for 45.It was the fifth time Hazlewood had captured Amlas wicket in five innings in the series.Spinner Nathan Lyon tightened the screws with three late wickets.JP Duminy played across the spinner and was bowled for 26 and Temba Bavuma fell three overs from stumps, caught off his gloves by Steve Smith sweeping Lyon for 21.Lyon removed nightwatchman Kyle Abbott leg before wicket for a duck in the days final over.It was an unbelievable atmosphere towards the end, Lyon said. This Test match we have bowled a lot better in partnerships...We still need four wickets and theres still two quality batters there at the moment.South Africas chances of posting a competitive lead hinge on Cook and de Kock producing a big stand. There is an opportunity for us tomorrow to try and capitalise on a big partnership to try and push us up past 180-200 lead, team batting coach Neil McKenzie said.If we can do that and take a few early wickets as we have done to Australia before that will give South Africa a lot of confidence.Khawaja earlier top scored with 145 with the last four wickets adding 100 runs to put the home side in command. His 308-ball vigil finally came to an end when he was trapped leg before wicket by Vernon Philander. The unflappable left-hander occupied the crease for 466 minutes after he was forced to open the innings after a miscalculation over David Warners time off the field for injury treatment when the Proteas unexpectedly declared.Khawaja left the field to a standing ovation following his second-highest Test score, amassed over three days, ranking only below his 174 against New Zealand in Brisbane last year.It was the Pakistan-born batsmans fifth Test century, all posted over the last 12 months.Khawajas epic knock was also the first century by an Australian in the South Africa series and he has now scored 314 runs at 62.80 in five innings.Starc clubbed his seventh Test half-century with a 91-ball 53 before he was caught and bowled by Kagiso Rabada, ending a lively knock that featured five fours and a six.Abbott was the best of South Africas bowlers with an economical three wickets for 49 off 29 overs with young gun speedster Rabada claiming three for 84.

Chelsea down Tottenham to go back on top of the table

Posted:

LONDON (AFP) - Chelsea fought back for a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur that cemented their place on top of the Premier League, while title rivals Manchester City and Liverpool kept pace with the leaders on Saturday.Antonio Contes Chelsea had been knocked out of pole position by Citys 2-1 win at Burnley and Liverpools 2-0 success against Sunderland earlier in the afternoon. But they regained their one-point lead over second-placed Liverpool, who are level on points with third-placed City, thanks to a gritty London derby success at Stamford Bridge that made it seven successive league wins for the Blues.Chelsea hadnt conceded a league goal since September 24, but Christian Eriksen fired Tottenham ahead in the 11th minute with a ferocious long-range strike.Despite being outplayed for much of the first half, Chelsea went back to the dressing room on level terms thanks to a sublime curling effort from Pedro just before the interval. In the 51st minute, Diego Costa picked out Victor Moses at the far post and his shot was deflected into the net off Jan Vertonghen as Chelsea ended Tottenhams 12-match unbeaten league run. These games are difficult, It was a tough game with a lot of intensity, Conte said. Its important to continue in this way and improve the confidence. Its too early to talk of the title. This league is very tough.Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino added: If we analyse the game, we were better. All the stats are for us but football is not just about stats. You need to be clinical and score.Earlier, Sergio Aguero scored two scruffy goals as City saw off Burnley and Liverpool followed suit by downing Sunderland with goals from Divock Origi and James Milner after losing Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho to a worrying injury. It was an intense game for us and a deserved win at the end, said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. It (Coutinhos injury) is an ankle injury, but we cant say any more until we see a scan.Swansea City claimed an extraordinary 5-4 win over fellow strugglers Crystal Palace, while champions Leicester City narrowly avoided a seventh defeat of the campaign in a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough.Having seen City prevail at Turf Moor in the early game, Liverpool were under pressure to produce the goods against a Sunderland team who had won their two previous matches. In the first half, the influential Coutinho was stretchered off with his right ankle in a brace after hurting himself in a challenge by Didier Ndong.Origi took the Brazil internationals place and he gave Liverpool a reward for their dominance in the 75th minute with his first league goal of the season.Jordan Henderson picked the Belgian forward out on the left and he cut inside onto his right foot and swept a shot inside the far post.Milner completed the victory from the penalty spot in the first minute of injury time.Burnley took a shock 14th-minute lead against City when Dean Marney met Nicolas Otamendis headed clearance with a thumping 25-yard volley that nestled in the bottom-left corner. But Aguero equalised in the 37th minute, stabbing home after Burnley failed to clear a corner, and the hosts luck continued to desert them as both Marney and Johann Berg Gudmundsson went off injured.A defensive mix-up allowed City to net the decisive goal on the hour, with Fernandinhos cross striking Aguero and going in after Ben Mee and Stephen Ward had got in each others way.We are so satisfied for the points and the performance, especially two days after the Champions League, said City manager Pep Guardiola, whose side host Chelsea next weekend. All of the players showed huge character and a lot of personality.Swansea upped the pressure on Palace manager Alan Pardew by condemning the south London club to a sixth straight defeat in a madcap game that gave Bob Bradley his first win since becoming manager.Palace led 1-0, fell 3-1 down, fought back to go 4-3 up, but eventually succumbed courtesy of a remarkable brace of injury-time goals from Spanish striker Fernando Llorente.Crazy, at 3-1 I thought we were in control. Thats one we wont forget, Bradley said.Im going to give the players all the credit today. They fought until the end.The victory took Swansea off the foot of the table, where they were replaced by Sunderland, and left Palace above the bottom three on goal difference.Hull City and West Bromwich Albion drew 1-1.
