PPP to strive hard to strengthen democracy: Chandio

LONDON (Dunya News) - Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Information Maula Bakhsh Chandio on Monday held a meeting with President Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) Asif Ali Zardari in London, Dunya News reported.Talking exclusively to Dunya News after the meeting Maula Bakhsh Chandio said that PPP and Asif Ali Zardari have faces difficulties in the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan. He further said that PPP will strive hard to strengthen democracy in the country.Answering a question, Maula Bakhsh Chandio said that PPP leadership has never refused to meet Nawaz Sharif and added that we always took the initiative in this regard.

Panama Leaks: Nawaz likely to meet Zardari in London

LAHORE (Dunya News) - London is likely to become hub of Pakistan political activities for the next few day in the aftermath of Panama Leaks as heads of three big political parties, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will be in London in the next few days, Dunya News reported.Prime Minister and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif is all set to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) on April 13 for his medical checkup. According to PM House spokesperson, PM has delayed his checkup numerous times on the basis of national responsibilities and engagements.PM Nawaz is expected to meet President Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) Asif Ali Zardari, who is already in London, during his visit. On the other hand, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan will also reach London in a couple of days while Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan will also visit London very soon.PTI sources said that Imran Khan will reach London on April 14 where he will hold some special meetings in regard to Panama Leaks.

Islamabad: Two terrorists of banned outfit arrested

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – According to details, intelligence agencies conducted an operation Tarnol area near Islamabad on Monday and arrested two most wanted terrorists of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi who lived there in the guise of a mechanic and a driver, Dunya News reported.The arrested terrorists were identified as Qari Rizwan, a resident of Khanewal, and Islam-ud-Din who is resident of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sources said that Qari Rizwan was living in Tarnol in the guise of a mechanic while Islam-ud-Din in the guise of a driver.Sources further said that the arrested terrorists were involved in terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khanewal and Lahore. They were also involved in attacks on FC and police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Hussain Nawaz off to Saudi Arabia

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz set off to Saudi Arabia via London from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Monday, reported Dunya News.Hussain will stay in Saudi Arabia for some days and will head to London afterwards.Meanwhile, PM Nawaz Sharif is all set to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) for his medical checkup. According to PM House spokesperson, PM has delayed his checkup numerous times on the basis of national responsibilities and engagements.PM Nawaz was to attend the two-day conference of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Turkey but he has cancelled his participation in this event as well. President Mamnoon Hussain will now be representing Pakistan in the conference.

Governance improved, transparency still lagging: PILDAT report

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency’s (PILDAT) latest report in regards to the government’s performance suggests that the governance has improved whereas transparency and grassroots transfer of authority are matters in which the government still lags, reported Dunya News.The government was able to secure 22 points in terms of transparency. Decrease in the funds of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and delay in the hearing of high level cases are being associated with the government scoring low in terms of transparency.In terms of grassroots transfer of authority, the government secured 28 points only. The report suggested that, out of the 28 points in regards to good governance, the government showed improvement in 18 but the decline was of 9 points.

PML-N given green signal to protest outside Jemima's house in London

LONDON (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been allowed to demonstrate outside Jemima Khan’s house in West London on April 17 by the British government, reported Dunya News.According to sources, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will also be present in London during the protest.PML-N United Kingdom (UK) President Zubair Gul stated that party workers from across the country will take part in the demonstration.Earlier, PTI workers arranged a protest outside Hussain Nawaz’s house as a reaction to the Panama Leaks; Hussain is the son of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif. Media reports suggested that almost 100 party workers took part in the demonstration.

Balochistan govt lodges case against Kulbhushan Yadav

After which a case has been filed on behalf of Provincial Home Ministry in Quetta on Monday, reported Dunya News.Sources revealed that terrorism, conspiracy against Pakistan and terrorist funding related provisions have been included in the case.

COAS meets former US Ambassador Richard Olson

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday met with the United States representative to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard G. Olson, reported Dunya News.According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department, the matters discussed in the meeting included regional security and the security situation in Afghanistan.Richard Olson praised Pakistan Army’s role in the war against terrorism.

PSP invites PTI to attend rally

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) has started arrangements for the rally on Monday while party delegation headed by party leader Raza Haroon reached the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Ismail to extend the first invitation of the rally going to be held on April 24, reported Dunya News.Talking to the media, Ismail said that his party is grateful over the invitation. Ismail has also asked assistance from PSP over PTI’s movement against government over Panama Leaks. Haroon said that his party wants to see a stable and changed Pakistan; dissents should be political rather than personal.For the first time, PSP has officially contacted any other political party. Both the parties have agreed to cooperate for the betterment of country.

Punjab govt fails to utilise budget of different departments

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Different departments of Punjab government have failed to ustilise budget as the government has been able to spend only 48.1 % of development funds in a period of 9 months, reported Dunya News.It is expected that funds worth billions of rupees will be wasted. Health, education, livestock and other departments have failed to utilise their respective funds. The officers have been directed to work vigorously during the time period of 2.5 months, a report has also been presented to Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shehbaz Sharif in the regard.The documents revealed that annual development fund included Rs 409 billion. Rs 396 billion were approved after detailed inspection. Planning Department approved Rs 341 billion. Finance Department released Rs 326 billion. Due to departmental weaknesses and carelessness, only Rs 197 billion have been spent so far.

Imran Khan starts movement against Panama Leaks

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday announced to initiate a movement against the government in regards to the Panama Leaks, reported Dunya News.While addressing the media after a meeting, Khan stated that the intra-party elections of PTI have been postponed as the entire focus is upon the movement against the Panama Leaks. Khan invited labourers, members of civil society and judiciary to take part in his movement, adding that this is a golden opportunity to wipe out corruption from the country.PTI chief added that if the people do not protest against corruption then the rulers will keep looting the country. He said that the Panama Leaks does not cater to a certain party but is a national issue.He stated that he will try to add more parties in the Raiwind March to make it a success.He stated that PTI is going to organise a huge show on April 24, adding that we shall see till April 24 if the government makes a commission under the Chief Justice or not.

Uproar at Shagufta Ejaz's beauty parlour: Bail granted to NAB officer, wife

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Shara-e-Faisal police filed a case against Deputy Director Mir Ausaf and his wife Hina Khanam on Monday for clashing and beating security guard at actress Shagufta Ejazs beauty parlour while the court has granted bail to both the parties after hearing the case, reported Dunya News.The accused Ausaf and his wife stated their stance in bail petition that actress Shagufta Ejaz has filed a fake case against them and submitted that the plaintiff has subjected Khanam to violence.The accused also presented an X-Ray report and medical certificate of a private hospital in the court.After further explanations by the lawyers, the court has granted bail against Rs 1 lac to both the parties.

Govt gives financial guarantee of Thar coal project

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The government, in an attempt to begin work in regards to the Thar coal project, gave a financial guarantee to Engro Powergen on Monday, reported Dunya News.Sources have indicated that the National Transmission Company will lay a 500kV wire between Thar and Mathiari. The project also includes the establishment of two 330 Megawatt (MW) coal plants, which will be completed till 2019 after an investment of $2 billion.According to the experts, the country’s energy crisis will be dealt in an effective manner after the completion of this project.

Joint interrogation with Uzair Baloch unable to be carried out

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Joint interrogation has not been carried out with the leader of Lyari gang war Uzair Baloch who is under the custody of Rangers since January 29 2016, reported Dunya News.The Joint Interrogation Team (JIT) was formed under the supervision ofSenior Superintendent of Police (SSP) City Fida Hussain. Hussain has also written a letter to Rangers for joint investigation team.Uzair Baloch was arrested by Rangers on January 29 and was taken into custody for 90 days.The ninety-day custody period of Uzair Baloch will end on April 29. Important disclosures are expected after investigation by JIT.

MQM's Waheed-uz-Zaman, Mohammad Raza join PSP

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) former All Pakistan Muhajir Students Organisation (APMSO) Chairman Mohammad Raza and Waheed-uz-Zaman joined Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) on Monday, reported Dunya News.Both ex-members of MQM formally made an announcement of joining PSP in a press conference which they addressed along with Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani.Kamal welcomed the two in the party, further adding that the MQM chief ordered the workers to keep their phones out during the recently held workers meeting. He said that despite this attempt, all information regarding the meeting is with him.He added that “no one came out of their homes (to join the party) as terrorists. The workers were converted into RAW agents and target killers”. Kamal stated that 20 thousand people belonging to MQM were killed and out of those, 10 thousand were killed on the orders of Nadeem Nusrat alone. He added that the workers were “used like tissue papers” and that they do not need to consider what the party tells them.He said that Nusrat used to make teams along with the Muttahida chief, Altaf Hussain, and once a team fulfilled its assigned duty, it was murdered. Kamal added that if the MQM chief comes to the country to lead the party then he will also follow him.Mohammad Raza said that whatever Mustafa Kamal said is true. He added that he remained quiet after witnessing whatever used to happen in London. Raza said that he went far from solving the social and communal problems whilst attempting to cater the basic problems of the party. He also that “I was suggested not to move to Pakistan from London” but he said that he returned to Karachi today after 16 years.Waheed-uz-Zaman, while addressing the media, stated that he and Raza decided to join the Pak Sarzameen Party on the basis of mutual consensus.
