PPP to file reference regarding ineligibility of PM, his family

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to file a reference regarding the ineligibility of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his family whereas Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also given access to PPP to the information related to the assets of the PM and his family, reported Dunya News on Monday.Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain Safdar has been issued a notice for hiding his assets. Furthermore, PPP has also been given approval to access copies of tax returns and related information mentioned in the nomination papers of the Sharif family submitted between 1990 and 2013. Access has been given to information regarding assets of PM Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif,Hamza Shahbaz, Captain Safdar and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.Peoples Party shall file reference of eligibility against the aforementioned PML-N leaders. Furthermore, the date for the hearing of the application filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding Captain Safdar has been set by the ECP. Commission has sent notice to Safdar for June 1.

Panama Leaks: PM approves parliamentary committee members from govt side

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Monday approved the names of the members belonging to the government who shall be a part of the parliamentary committee that will formulate the Terms of References (TORs) catering the investigation of the Panama Leaks issue, reported Dunya News.All six members representing the government are ministers. Four members of the committee belong to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) whereas the other two members belong to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and National Party.The six members are: Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Saad Rafique, Anusha Rehman, Mir Hasil Bizenjo and Akram Durrani.Speaker National Assembly (NA) Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has also issued notification regarding the names of these members of the government.Sources indicate that the parliamentary committee shall begin its work upon the Terms of References from this week.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Afghan Taliban have confirmed the death of Mullah Akhtar Mansour after receiving confirmation about his death in a drone strike near Pak-Afghan border through different sources and United States (US) President Obama, reported Dunya News.Afghan Taliban has called in Majlis-e-Shura’s meeting to appoint new leader while other groups have also been contacted in this regards.Meetings have also been arranged in other areas of Taliban-held territories while different names are also under consideration as a new leader of the extremist organisation.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Sources indicate that Muhammad Wali, who died yesterday (Sunday) as the result of an American drone strike on his car while he was travelling from Nushki to Quetta, had his name in the voter list of Chaman. However the locals claim that no one by the exact name resides in the area, reported Dunya News on Monday.Muhammad Walis name is present in the final voter list of the Chaman municipal committee next to serial number 38. His full name, Muhammad Wali son of Shah Muhammad, is present in the list along with his identification card number and residential address of Jadeed Abadi, Chaman, district Killa Abdullah. But his residence in Jadeed Abadi has yet not been traced as the locals state that no one by this name resides in the area.Meanwhile, security agencies have initiated investigation regarding Muhammad Walis National Identification Card and passport.Walis identification card has raised multiple questions over the performance of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). Sources have indicated that the identity card has been made after paying a heavy amount of bribe. Law enforcement agencies have started investigation about the matter.

TEHRAN (Web Desk) – Spokesperson Iranian Foreign Ministry Hussain Jabar Ansari has denied reports of Taliban supremo Mullah Mansours presence in Iranian territory before drone attack, an international news agency has stated on Monday, reported Dunya News.Iranian authorities have rejected the very reports stating that no person with such name has crossed the border and added that Iran has always welcomed positive steps with regard to peace and stability in Afghanistan.

K-electric reduces electricity fares

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - In terms of fuel adjustment for the month of March, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has declared a reduction in electricity charges and has issued a notification in this regard, reported Dunya News on Monday.K-electric proposed to deduct Rs 0.3 per unit while NEPRA has directed K-electric to run its power plants to their maximum capacity and assured the company to provide every possible relief in the month of June.NEPRA also stated that the prices would not be implemented in the agricultural sector and for those clients consuming 300 units of electricity per month.

Panama Leaks commission needs to be formed soon: Shujaat Hussain

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Siraaj ul Haq on Monday met with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain at Mansoora. Both leaders had discussion in regards to the investigation of the Panama Leaks issue and other matters, reported Dunya News.Siraj and Shujaat agreed that mutual consultation between both parties about all matters related to the interest of the country needs to be continued. While conversing with the media after the meeting, Shujaat stated that the government is using delaying tactics regarding the Terms of References (TORs) of the commission that probes into the Panama Leaks issue.JI ameer said that the country is stuck in a number of problems, the Panama Leaks issue needs not to be brushed under the carpet. He added that a sovereign commission needs to be formed to cater the matter which also has the permission to give punishments to the perpetrators. He declared corruption as the root of all issues.Both leaders condemned the hanging of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders by the Bangladeshi government. The meeting was attended by PML-Q leader Chaudhary Parvez Elahi, JI leader Liaquat Baloch and other leaders of both parties.

Will request PM to recruit Imran as SHO: Abid Sher

GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Water and Power Chaudhary Abid Sher Ali arrived at Gujranwala on Monday, directed officials of Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GESCO) to disconnect electricity connections of defaulters including different Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs), reported Dunya News.While heading to address the media, Sher Ali got surrounded by protesting citizens. He criticised Awami Muslim League (AWL) chief Sheikh Rasheed that he has lost his senses and he would suggest him to get married as soon as possible.Mentioning Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan he said that he has requested Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif to appoint Imran as Station House Officer (SHO) of any police station.Imran needs to take off his glasses as he has even confessed of owning an offshore company, he said.

Drinks, gram flour prices escalate prior to beginning of Ramazan

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Prices of gram flour and various drinks have risen a great deal prior to the beginning of the holy month of Ramazan, reported Dunya News on Monday.Gram flour is being sold in Karachis retail market at a price of Rs 180 with an increase of Rs 40 in the original price. The price of Chana dal, with an increase of Rs 10, has reached Rs 160 whereas prices of various drinks have also inclined.Shopkeepers have labeled the whole-sale dealers responsible for the increase in the prices of these goods. Local public believes that the district government has failed to curtail the profit-seekers.
