Posted:

MOGADISHU (AFP) - At least three people were killed in twin car bombings in the Somali capital on Saturday that were claimed by Shabaab Islamists, police and medics said.Following the blasts, witnesses reported hearing gunfire and said the entire area around the Nasa Hablod Hotel 2 had been sealed off by security forces. The twin attacks came just two weeks after a massive truck bomb exploded in central Mogadishu, killing at least 358 people, making it the deadliest attack in the troubled countrys history. The Al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab claimed Saturdays bombings in a statement on its Andalus radio station, saying its fighters had forced their way into the hotel. The Mujahedeen fighters are inside Nasa Hablod 2 hotel where... apostate officials are staying, said a brief statement posted on a pro-Shabaab website, quoting Andalus.Mogadishus Aamin ambulance service has so far removed three bodies from the scene and evacuated 17 wounded, its director Abdukadir Abdurahman told AFP.A car loaded with explosives went off at the entrance of Nasa Hablod Hotel and there is gunfire, police official Ibrahim Mohamed told AFP, saying there was also a minibus loaded with explosives which went off a nearby intersection. An AFP correspondent at the scene also reported seeing two people lying on the ground but their condition was not immediately clear.Mohamed Ahmed Mohamud, who drives a tuktuk taxi told AFP he saw a soldier stopping a car near the hotel when the blast went off.I was driving in front of the hotel, a soldier talked to small luxury car then a big blast went off. Two female passengers were on board, but now I dont know where they have gone, he said.Gunfire inside the hotelWe can hear the gunfire but it is difficult to know who is fighting, the forces cordoned off the building and no one can go close to it, said a witness called Abdulahi Nure.A taxi driver at the scene told AFP he saw four bodies being carried away, while another witness called Yusuf Moalim said a senior police official appeared to be among the victims, whose car had been near the hotel entrance when the blast occurred. The Nasa Hablod 2 is a popular hotel located in the north of the city whose sister hotel, the Nasa Hablod, was hit by Shabaab militants in June 2016, in an attack that killed 11 people, including a junior minister. That attack also began when a suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden car outside the hotel which was then stormed by gunmen, provoking an assault that lasted several hours and only ended when special forces killed three attackers inside. The Shabaab lost their foothold in Mogadishu in 2011 but have continued their battle to overthrow the Somali government, launching regular attacks on military, government and civilian targets in the capital and elsewhere.

The earthquakes will be triggered by gravitational influence of Nibiru. This mystery planet will not only disrupt the functioning of earth but also create problems for other planets and parts of solar system.Despite complete rejection by NASA, people claim that Planet X or Nibiru orbits around sun after thousands of years. Different tricks are applied to calculate when Nibiru will exactly orbit near earth which will cause “apocalyptic earthquakes”.The rumours came to light after PlanetXNews.com highlighted the matter and predicted an apocalypse in near future due to weather patterns across earth and elsewhere. Pope Francis condemns Europe's low birth rates

Posted:

VATICAN CITY (AFP) - Pope Francis on Saturday decried low birth rates in Europe and urged more help for young people preparing their future path in society.A Europe that rediscovers itself as a community will surely be a source of development for herself and for the whole world, the pope told (Re)Thinking Europe - a project sponsored by the European bishops conference (COMECE).Europe is suffering, the pontiff said, from a period of dramatic sterility. Not only because Europe has fewer children, and all too many were denied the right to be born, but also because there has been a failure to pass on the material and cultural tools that young people need to face the future. The Argentinian pontiff described the European Union as a tired grandmother, no longer fertile and vibrant, in a 2014 address to the European Parliament. On Saturday, he said he found Europe to be increasingly distinguished by a plurality of cultures and religions but warned of the dangers of erecting walls of indifference and fear when it came to assimilating migrants who are more a resource than a burden. For Francis, leaders together share responsibility for promoting a Europe that is an inclusive community, as it looks to meet challenges including the imbalances caused by a soulless globalisation.Among the popes audience were European Commission vice-president Frans Timmermans and EU parliament chief Antonio Tajani. They heard Pope Francis insist that Europe is not a mass of statistics or institutions, but is made up of people who should not be reduced to an abstract.

Mourinho hails players' desire as United beat Spurs

Posted:

MANCHESTER (AFP) - Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was delighted by the commitment of his side after they bounced back from a shock defeat by Huddersfield Town with a 1-0 home win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.Substitute Antony Martials goal nine minutes from time was enough for United to go three points clear of Spurs in second place in the Premier League table.Mourinho slammed United for a really poor attitude after the 2-1 defeat by Huddersfield but the Portuguese boss was far happier with what he saw against Spurs. We all feel we have to win every match so thats why I felt disappointed at Huddersfield, he told Sky Sports. It looked like we didnt know that every point is a precious point. Today, every ball looked like the last ball of their careers. As for Martial, whose United future has been a source of speculation, Mourinho said: Sometimes he starts the match and his contribution is good but he doesnt score.I dont understand some reactions when people question are they Red Devils? The two strikers were up against amazing central defenders, some of the best in Europe. There was nothing fancy about Martials winner, the forward finishing after a kick downfield by United goalkeeper David De Gea was headed on by Romelu Lukaku.Martial scores with a bad shot, but the bad shots can be the most beautiful, said Mourinho. To play well against a very, very good team feels even better.Former Chelsea manager Mourinho accepted the result could easily have gone the other way, saying: That was difficult, it could have been a draw. Both teams were trying to win but both knew the opponent was strong. We knew if we had one defensive mistake we could lose and thats what happened to them.We tried and we deserved the victory.Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino agreed with much of Mourinhos assessment, saying: It was an even game.It was a shame to lose. I think we deserved more. It was unlucky that in the last 10 minutes we conceded our goal. It was our mistake.Tottenham were without injured striker Harry Kane but Pochettino insisted his sides title challenge was about more than the in-form England forward. If Dele Alli had scored now the question would be different, Pochettino said. It is always about the result. You are always going to miss your main striker but it is not fair to talk about Harry Kane.
