Trump again cites 'military' option against North Korea

Posted:

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President Donald Trump and his French counterpart pledged in a phone call Saturday to work to denuclearize North Korea, but Trump again spoke of possible military measures if other steps fail.A White House statement said Trump and President Emmanuel Macron had discussed the increasingly dangerous situation associated with North Koreas destabilizing and escalatory behavior. It said the United States was ready along with its allies, to apply the full range of diplomatic, economic and military measures to end any nuclear threat from the North. The statement came just hours after Chinese leader Xi Jinping urged Trump in a separate phone call to avoid rhetoric that could inflame tensions with Pyongyang.Trump raised alarm around the world -- and particularly in Asia -- by warning that North Korea would face fire and fury like the world has never seen if it were to keep threatening the United States.North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un responded by threatening, if attacked, to strike targets in or around Guam in the western Pacific. That prompted Trump to reassure citizens of the US territory that the American military was prepared to ensure their safety.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The crowd went roaring when Nawaz Sharif stated in his Lahore rally that the people elected me as prime minister in 2013 while a verdict of only five people declared me ineligible. People responded with a loud‘no’when he asked them whether they accept this decision.Former PM backed the recommendation of Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani to strengthen parliament byinviting the prime minister, senior army officers, bureaucracy, and Supreme Court chief justice and hold an inter-institutional dialogue. He planned to announce his next step on August 14.Recalling the pastHe claimed to take no bribe or commit corrupt practices, saying he was ousted for not taking salary from his own son. Your prime ministers have been treated this way for the past 70 years, he said while stressing that people have to bring change through revolution. He demanded accountability of those who repeat the trend of ousting PMs, adding that they delivered in the last four years, eliminated power outages, installed industry and prospering the lives of farmers. “Who are these people who sabotage the growth of Pakistan,” he asked while telling people to take a stand with courage. He recalled that Pakistan was divided into two parts in 1971 and he doesn’t want the country to face another crisis like that in near future.“This is 2017 and we came in 2013. Pakistan of 2017 is far better. Does Nawaz Sharif deserve such treatment,” ex-PM asked. He shed light on inequality, conspiracies against his government, claiming that Nawaz Sharif will even sacrifice his life to upheld the value of public mandate. He said he wishes to elevate the respect and honour of Pakistan, adding there is no social or economic justice in the country. Nawaz Sharif expressed the need for new laws, provisions in constitution where votes are valued and speedy justice is provided.‘Free and speedy justice for all’He stated, “I have come out for justice, not authority … Pakistan cannot move forward unless the system is changed. Bangladeshi bride makes statement: Says no to makeup, jewelry

(Web Desk) – A Bangladeshi bride named Tasnim Jara wore no makeup or jewelry at her wedding reception, during the past week, to make a statement against societal norms and defy the stereotypical image of a bride. She took to Facebook and shared her experience saying, “I walked into my wedding reception wearing grandmother’s white cotton saree with zero makeup and no jewellery … I feel that we need to change this mindset … People may call it simple, but it was very special to me, for what I believe in and what it means to me.”Tasnim rejected the view of her aunts and friends that claim brides are ‘incomplete’ without ornaments, highlighting the irony that girls have to buy expensive dresses for their weddings which are of no use later on. While arguing about the societal norms about a bride, she said girls are pressurised to end up looking nothing like themselves, dismissing the idea of taking services from the best makeup artist in town and pay large some of money to get dressed for the occasion.“Society constantly reminds her that her actual skin colour isn’t good enough for her own wedding,” she mentioned. However, she encouraged girls who wish to dress up, wear makeup and jewelry on their wedding. “I am all in for that if a girl wants to use make-up, jewelry and expensive clothes,” she wrote. Tasnim specially thanked her husband Khaled Saifullah who kept on supporting her when she faced resistance after making the call.
